  • The product is to be installed as per Australian standard or local authority requirements.

Installation Instructions

  1. Determine where on the benchtop the basin will be installed.
  2. Place the basin in position and check to ensure the basin waste outlet position does not interfere with draws, internal walls, or waste connection pipework.
  3. Mark the waste hole position on the bench top using a suitable cutting device, then cut a hole in the bench top large enough to accommodate the waste.
  4. Fit waste to the basin as per waste installation.
  5. Fit basin to bench top and proceed with waste pipe installation.
  6. Select a clear wet area and use high-quality 100% neutral curing silicone sealant containing anti-fungicide to prevent mould growth in hot and humid environments. It must be ideal for sealing bathrooms, kitchens, hotel washbasins, shower screens, etc.
  7. Silicone around the bottom edge of the basin where it connects with the benchtop. The basin should be sealed around all edges to ensure water cannot get behind or under the basin. (Do Not silicone Underneath the Basin, it will be seen and become unsightly)
  8. Clean excess silicone with an ice block stick and soapy water as per the video on the website, then use a cloth to remove excess soapy water sprayed on the basin and benchtop. Installation video guide can be found by navigating to support at the top of the page and clicking on Basin & Lightbox Technical Information & Installation in the dropdown.

Cleaning & Maintenance:

Proper care of your Basin Lab product should ensure many years of trouble-free operation. Surfaces should be regularly cleaned to retain the allure and beauty.

We strive to keep sustainability at the heart and core of our business. That’s why our basins require no harsh chemicals to clean, only a damp cloth or sponge with mild liquid detergent or soap if necessary to remove stubborn dirt. Some areas like beachside suburbs have a high airborne salt concentration therefore frequent and thorough cleaning is essential to prevent corrosion.

Provided with your basin is a white “magic sponge”, we recommend using that to clean your product.

Precautions:

The use of certain cleaning agents may cause irreparable damage to your new products and must be avoided.

Do not use cleaning agents containing acid, bleach, ammonia or scouring agents such as cream cleaners; and do not use abrasive scouring pads.

Information

The iLLUMi™ electrical system is 24 Volts (Low Voltage). You have your electrician connect it to a transformer. We recommend 24 V (low voltage) – IP67 – 30Watt – dimmable – DC – to suit AS/NZS 60598.1 and AS/NZ 60598.2.1. The electrician can wire it to a light switch or movement sensor, allowing operation from there.

You also have the option of having your electrician install a Movement Sensor into the light switch, allowing the basin to turn on and off with movement, essentially turning your basin into a night light. Always ask your electrician for their opinion.

The Basin Lab takes no responsibility for the information provided. The electrician is to confirm the power supply, connect and install in accordance with correct electrical standards and laws.

Installation Instructions

  1. Have you bench top cut out to fit the iLLUMi™ Lightbox, we recommend you refer to the spec sheets attached for the different sizes depending on your basin shape, the spec sheets can also be found on our website, see link and QR code below. A minimum bench top thickness of 20mm is required. (If your bench top is thinner than 20mm please let us know, we can adjust the lightbox to fit any thickness)
  2. Remove the brown protection paper covering the top and bottom surface of the light box.
  3. We recommend the electrical wire protruding from the light box be placed at the back so as not to interfere with drawers or doors.
  4. Remove the protection paper on the Double-sided tape around the black rim of the Lightbox; between the spaces of double sided tape squeeze a small 10mm dollop of silicone onto the black outside lip of the light box, from inside the vanity or from under the bench top push the light box up into the cut-out hole, the double-sided tape will hold the light box in place until the silicone cures, we recommend propping the light box during the cure process.
  5. Once the Silicone has cured, place your basin in position, making sure the basin is supported by the bench top.
  6. From inside your basin, silicone and fit the waste (we recommend a 40mm pop up waste) into the basin outlet hole, from underneath fit the 50mm PVC sleeve over the 40mm waste threaded neck, slide up inside the Light Box internal hole to the bottom of the basin, fit waste nut and tighten up against the 50mm PVC sleeve, screw up to required tightness, clean any excess silicone with soapy water and an ice block stick, fit trap.
  7. Silicone around your basin.
